Meet our team
Pastor Colin Green
Hello there. I’m so glad you’re taking a few minutes to look at West Zion Bible Church. When you’re looking for a church, it’s important to know who the pastor is. I hope you will find the words below informative and helpful. Of course, I welcome the opportunity to get with you personally anytime (I love coffee and pie).
I have been the pastor of West Zion for less than two years and I am loving everything about it. These are great people with a deep faith in God and a real love for one another. Colleen (pictured above) and I now live in Didsbury and are finding Alberta-town-life very satisfying. We love the countryside views and have learned to celebrate the beauty of the mountains when they come out on a clear day. I’m still getting used to the trains though — the brochure said that life in the country was always peaceful and quiet! Honestly, we are feeling right at home here. We truly love our neighbours, our town, and our church.
PERSONAL:
I am Canadian. Born and raised in Saskatoon. Just turned 66 years (young).
Colleen and I are celebrating 45 years of marriage and are still in love.
We have four adult children, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
PASTORAL:
I have been a Christian for 47 years and in full-time ministry for almost 40.
I love God, people, and pastoring.
I primarily pastor as a shepherd-type through preaching, teaching, counselling, and care.
I also pastor as a leader-type through leadership, evangelism, and discipleship.
I use an expositional preaching style that is warm, visual, and effective.
I have pastored churches in Canada and the US, planting three churches along the way.
I believe Christ is the Head of the Church:
He leads his Church by his Spirit and Word through a plurality of biblically qualified leaders who serve, instruct, and encourage the Body to worship, serve, give, and mature by using their spiritual gifts to build the church and win the world for Christ.
SPIRITUAL:
I have a big view of God and a high view of Scripture.
I walk with God by yielding to his Spirit for him to produce his fruit through my life.
I am an imperfect pastor, a flawed leader, and a struggling Christian.
I walk by God’s grace through faith every minute of every day.
I believe being dependent on God IS the spiritual life.
EDUCATIONAL:
I was Educated in Denver and Dallas, earning four degrees: BRE, MACE, MABS, D.MIN.
I currently work part-time for Dallas Theological Seminary in Alumni Relations, where I travel across Canada and the northern United States to connect, encourage, coach, and counsel over 1,200 DTS Alumni.

I hope this has given you a clearer picture.
I would love to know who you are and have the opportunity to serve you at West Zion soon!

I am retired from the construction business, but still love to keep busy! Church involvement has always been very important to me. I’ve been involved in small groups for years, teaching Sunday classes, and trying to help wherever I can. I love the people here, who help me in my life of following Jesus!

I’ve lived on the family farm and attended West Zion my whole life. My wife and I have attempted to serve at West Zion over the years in any way we can. We also use our position in the farming community to shine the light of Christ while we raised two boys .
The older I get the more of a burden I have for those in my community that need to have a relationship with God. We see West Zion as a bright spot in our community to share Christ and the gospel as we grow in relationship with him.

Hebrews 10: 24-25
My family and I have attended West Zion for 25 years and West Zion has consistently fulfilled this verse, spurring me on toward love, good deeds, and encouragement through Bible based preaching, meaningful relationships, relevant small groups, and going deeper in Men’s groups.
With our community rapidly growing, I eagerly anticipate what God has for my family and for West Zion.

I have been married to Wendy for over 50 years and have attended west Zion since moving from Calgary to Carstairs in 2017. We have two sons and four grandchildren. My career was as a geologist in the oil industry.
I believe that God has been preparing the people of West Zion to reach our community for Jesus through events, service and friendships.

I've been married almost 20 years and we have 2 teenage daughters. My hobbies include cycling, swimming, paddle boarding, and crafting. 'Community' and small town/rural life are what I value highly and West Zion is a great place for community. We have been attending since 2019 and feel loved and cared for here. Working in administration for Christian organizations is truly where I fit best. Although I’m new to the admin assistant role, I am thoroughly enjoying it!
